Lock Media's Microsoft Exchange 2003 Hosting Service includes advanced protection from the worst security threats on the Internet, including anti-virus technology that is updated hourly (or more often during the worst attacks), as well as protection against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, Directory Harvest Attacks, and more. Lock Media calls these protections our Email Security at the Edge Services.
Lock Media's Email Edge Services provide an email boundary solution that prevents dangerous email messages from damaging a company's network, reputation, or business relationships. By blocking unwanted email messages before they reach your network, Lock Media's Email Edge Services provide a critical level of security for your systems.
Note that Lock Media's standard Hosted Exchange mailboxes include advanced virus protection, and basic content control and spam control. Advanced options for Spam Control and Content Control are available on a company by company basis.
How Email Edge Services Work
Lock Media's Edge Services scan incoming and outgoing messages for words, phrases, images, and attachments that violate your corporate email policy. (Lock Media defines a default policy, but this can be customized on a company by company basis.) Policies within Lock Media's Edge Services track any text string and assign it a quantifiable threat quotient, providing a high degree of flexibility in defining corporate email policies. A unique lexical weighting and keyword detection system determines which messages reach their assigned recipient, and which messages may be blocked or deleted. The entire process takes just milliseconds and is completely transparent to sender and recipient.
Virus Protection
Lock Media's Edge Services use highly-advanced anti-virus technology to detect and block more than 100,000 known viruses and their variants that can be embedded in email attachments. Definitions are updated on an hourly basis—even more often when serious new threats are identified—ensuring uninterrupted protection for all your users. Lock Media's Virus Protection is included in all of our standard mailbox services.
Spam Control
Spam is bothersome at best, and can be dangerous in the worst cases, clogging mailboxes with unwanted solicitations and leaving your company open to lawsuits for inappropriate content. Lock Media's Email Edge Services track this spam and blocks it using the very latest technologies for content analysis and filtering. Spam Control is available as an option on all of Lock Media's mailboxes.
Content Control
Lock Media's service can prevent transmission of large video or audio files and offensive content, protecting your employees from distractions and protection your network from clogging. Proprietary information is protected. Lock Media's Content Control includes a default policy, providing blocking of specific file types, but this can be customized on a company-by-company basis.
